Periodontal disease is a progressive infection of the gums and supporting bone.
It typically begins as gingivitis, which is mild inflammation caused by plaque buildup. If untreated, it can progress into periodontitis, where the infection spreads deeper and begins damaging the bone around the teeth.
Common signs include:
- Bleeding gums
- Swelling or tenderness
- Bad breath
- Receding gums
- Loose teeth
Early detection is critical because periodontal disease can silently progress without pain.
Routine Dental Care & Prevention
General dentistry is a term used that encompasses all of the treatments that dentists may perform - includes perio, endo, surgery, restorative, prosthodontics and more.
Dental X-Rays, Technology & Diagnostics
Dental X-rays are needed for several reasons. We are able to look for pathology or disease in the bone. We are about to track slow progression of periodontal disease. We are able to see decay in between the teeth that are not visible by visual exam.
Fillings, Crowns & Restorative Care
Cavities are a bacterial process/disease and if left untreated, will continue to attack and damage the nerve, the entire tooth, and even cause the gums and bone around a tooth to get abscessed. If a tooth has lingering sensitivity, often times that tooth will require a root canal and crown. If the cavity has already attacked the root of the tooth, sometimes the tooth is not saveable and needs to be removed surgically.
